Miso Strainer
Miso strainer
Japanese: 味噌漉し(みそこし)
A strainer used when making miso soup. Dissolves miso while removing solids.
A miso strainer dissolves miso into dashi stock when making soup. Place miso in the fine-mesh strainer and push through with chopsticks or spoon.
Removes soybean and koji particles for smooth miso soup. Especially useful with tsubu (chunky) miso. Not needed with pre-strained koshi-miso, but having one makes cooking more refined. Not a miso-making tool, but a tool for 'tasting' miso. Beyond soup, it dissolves miso smoothly for dressings and sauces. Stainless steel is durable and easy to maintain. A small but reliable companion at the daily table.
