In fermentation, it simulates microbial activity, temperature changes, and chemical reactions in tanks, enabling exploration of optimal brewing conditions beforehand. Continuously updating the virtual model with real process data improves prediction accuracy. Still in research stages, this technology could lower the cost of failure and encourage flavor experimentation by enabling what-if trials in digital space. Whether the complex system behavior of microorganisms can be fully modeled remains a major scientific challenge. If realized, this technology might allow testing new miso recipes in virtual space and predicting flavors before actual preparation.
